The Velveteen Rabbit

The beautiful tale by Margery Williams is a modern children's classic, in which a stuffed toy rabbit learns what it means to be REAL.

This splendid dramatic adaptation portrays a young child's world of special toys. "When a child loves you for a long time, not just to play with, but really loves you, then you become REAL", explains the Skin Horse in the story. This presentation, with its lovely masks, puppets and props is an excellent introduction to the world of theatre.

This play captures the rapt attention of younger students without talking down to them, and suggests many ideas for their own creative work. Ten of your students will play the parts of toys in the show. They will rehearse their roles during the half hour before the performance begins.
